Northern Ireland's Local Council Mayors, Chairs and Deputies 2026/27

Councils across Northern Ireland have now announced their Mayors, Chairs and Deputies for 2026/27, marking the annual transfer of civic leadership across local government.

Sinn Féin have secured the largest number of First Citizen positions, holding six mayoral or chair roles, while the DUP secured four.

The appointments reflect the continuing importance of local government as councils prepare to deliver key services, oversee major regeneration projects and represent their communities over the next 12 months.
