CGI (NYSE: GIB) (TSX: GIB.A), one of the largest independent IT and business consulting services firms in the world, was pleased to welcome Economy Minister, Dr Caoimhe Archibald MLA, to its Belfast Centre of Excellence. The Minister’s visit follows the recent opening of CGI’s new office in the city and provided an opportunity to explore how the company’s ongoing investment is driving digital innovation, creating high-value jobs, and contributing to Northern Ireland’s economic growth.

CGI’s relocation to The Kelvin Building reflects its long-term commitment to Northern Ireland and forms part of a wider strategy to strengthen digital delivery capability across Ireland. The Belfast Centre of Excellence, supported by Invest NI, is already contributing to Northern Ireland’s digital transformation agenda, including the design and delivery of Themis, the flagship 20-year modernisation programme for the Northern Ireland Courts and Tribunals Service. CGI also outlined its plans to further grow its Northern Ireland presence as the company continues to expand its capabilities, client base, and delivery footprint.

During the visit, the Minister met with Chris Shorthouse, Vice President of the Government and Health Sector, Michelle Sherrard, Director of Consulting Services, and Eamon McHugh, Director of Consulting Services, at CGI. The CGI team briefed the Minister on its expanding digital, AI, cybersecurity, and data capabilities, highlighting the company’s growing collaboration with local supply chains, SMEs, educational partners, and community groups.

The Minister also learned how CGI’s digital platforms and emerging technologies are supporting broader productivity, innovation, and decarbonisation initiatives across public services and industry.

“It was fantastic to meet with CGI, one of our international investors. The company has grown significantly since establishing a presence here in 2021. It is now a leader in our thriving tech sector, harnessing AI, data and digital platforms to provide more efficient public services in the north. With support from Invest NI, I am excited to see how the company is developing its presence here to drive innovation and regional growth.” said Economy Minister, Dr Caoimhe Archibald MLA.

“We were pleased to welcome the Economy Minister and to share how CGI’s investment in Northern Ireland directly supports the ambitions set out in the government’s Economic Vision. Our new Belfast Centre of Excellence strengthens our ability to build local skills, work in partnership with industry, education and communities and bring CGI’s global expertise closer to clients across the region. We remain committed to creating long-term opportunities and delivering lasting value for Northern Ireland.” said Chris Shorthouse.

CGI’s expanding presence in Northern Ireland builds on the company’s proximity model and its long-standing commitment to delivering locally while drawing on global capability. The Belfast Centre of Excellence will continue to support public and private-sector clients across the region through technology solutions that enable improved services, increased productivity and long-term sustainable growth.
